Having installed and run Ubuntu11.4 from a magazine disk
I found it good when good but flaky and prone to shut down
So I was advised that best to install 10.10 Desktop.

Tried from disk- seemed OK so decided to install

The Allocate drive Space came up with the top tabs
Device/Type/Mount Point/format?/ etc.,

None of which responded to a click-
clicked in the text space - turned pink- but the tabs remained inactive
Clicked on Install Now and message came up No Root system defined, correct from partition menu.

Is that the above screen or something else or is it a faulty disk?
The hardrive is a freshly prepared used disk.
Logical and Active drives set and Formatted with F Disk

I would try to delete the partitions you intend to use with Ubuntu and then partition the free space with the installers partitioner. If you have no other systems on that disk it may help to erase the entire partition table (zero it out).
