Hi:

Is the theme sound byte a package?

With Zorin (Ubuntu based) you would install a pkg with elevated privileges and be good to go.If it's not a pkg see the link below.

Install a theme:

I'm sorry but maybe I didn't explain myself well enough. The theme I was talking about is the musical theme that Ubuntu had years ago when you first booted up. I like to know how to install the sound byte, I have the sound byte but don't know how to install it.

Ok- Sorry I didn't realize it was a musical theme:-

Well unless that musical theme is a .deb pkg or a ubuntu pkg I don't know how you would install it.

Maybe other members will know:-

I'm guessing that musical themes are in the configuration files that are associated with the boot up process and or initialization processes just after the log in.

What kind of file is the sound byte? Search for that type of file, and make an educated guess where you think it should go. Try
Code:
$ locate .wav
Then you have to configure the system to use it. Try
Code:
$ grep -r '\.wav' /etc
and see if you can get some clues.

where exactly do you want to hear that sound?
  • at early boot, i.e. grub or right after
  • before graphical login
  • right after graphical login

is it only 1 file?
what type of file?

After reading here I found out that the start up sound is disabled by default in Ubuntu. Zorin is based on Ubuntu so I hope this link helps. I tried.

i don't know what exactly you tried and how exactly it didn't work, but it should be enough to add a command to your startup commands (autostart):
Code:
aplay /path/to/ogg
