install software from CD
Hi...LQ
need help how to install software from a CD, since I'm still new in LINUX OS, for your info i'm using SUSE with GNOME terminal...i hope to hear from you

Generally when you put a CD in the drive, you will get a pop up asking what you want to do. You would need to let us know what kind of software you are trying to install and where you got it.

Could not display "/media/USER MANUAL/CD/ML_40_004_Linux_x86.bin".

What program is it? Installing software from CD isn't all that common in the Linux world, most software is installed via the package manager, or else compiled from source.
In any event, that file ML_40_004_Linux_x86.bin is presumably a program. It may be the case that programs on the CD aren't being allowed to run, in which case there are a few ways round this.

thx for the feed back i forgot to mention it that i'm using a UPS to back-up my desktop then the ups come with an CD which contain a shutdown software so i got problem when i want to install this cd, from the manual it mention to change to "root" since i'm totally new in using linux so i need some help on the command how to run this shutdown software from a cd...
