Sure there isn't something like "./configure" first, or make <something> ?

You will have to run the following commands (As root) from the directory that they are in:
[CODE]
./configure && make && make install
[/CODE

Configure automagically creates a makefile specific to your computer.
Make compiles the program.
Make install copies the newly created binaries and config files to their proper locations. Hence why you need to be root, because you will need root access to /usr/bin and some other directories.

Best to run 'configure' and 'make' as a regular user, and only 'make install' as root -- if installing globally.
