install openoffice on openSUSE 11.2
 
I am new to openSUSE & Linux! I have installed some software with YaST
I would like to know how to install openoffice also would like to know the basic commands for installing tar.gz tar.bz2 and .bin files

willing to learn! links to doc page would be helpful & commands

Very close to a duplicate post, between this and your other question.

You can install OpenOffice by going to the OpenOffice site, and downloading it. Follow the instructions. Even better, install it through Yast, since it's in the openSUSE repos.

As far as installing .gz, etc....that's like asking "how high is up?". The answer is "it depends". Each piece of software will have it's own method of installation. Some have scripts, some don't. Some just need to be run; some need to compile. Read the instructions that come with the software.

I try to suggest using the disto's built in software management. Each disto has ways to install apps. For suse one tends to try the opensuse pages.
