install of g77 or g77 rpm

Hello,
I have gcc bin installed and access to gcc source. I also have a gcc-g77****rpm on hard disk or dvd. I am trying to setup Octave or Scilab and both require a fortran compiler. I realize that g77 is in my 4.x gcc, but I do not know how to do the build for the g77.

I also have an rpm, but am using Suse 10.0 and YAST does not give option for setting up g77 and I have not been able to figure out how to get Yast to see the rpm that I have.

How can I either build the g77 from gcc or how do I manually install an rpm? I have been looking through various documents, postings, etc. but do not understand how to do it.

Thanks,
MunichTexan.
