first off what distro are you wanting to install? as far as i know id you have an ISO copy you should be able to reboot with the cd in the drive and your computer should boot you into an install screen! try that and go from there!

If you want to install a major distro (Red Hat, Mandrake,...) you will need to backup your data and/or move them to the c: drive.

This is because the second drive will need to be reformatted to linux format (ext2 or ext3).

Note: some minie-distro can install on fat32 ( muLinux does it pretty well http://mulinux.sunsite.dk/ ) but as the name implies, they are minie. So you do not have all the tools and applications normally found on linux.

In order to uninstall, simply reformat the second disk.

Just so you know:
When in linux, your drives will be label as fallow:
/hda -> Primary master
/hdb -> Primary slave
/hdc -> Secondary master
/hdd -> Secondary slave

To save you from bad surprises, I would recommend that you buy a book to get you started. ( It would make a great Christmas gift. )

Have fun
