Install Linux mint on netbook without cd drive

Hi, I have Linux mint 8 iso and would like to install it on an Asus eee machine, for light web surfing and perhaps a movie only.
I have istalled Linux mandrake once ages ago and red hat once too.
The only other machine I have is a bigger netbook on vista, if I can get Linux working on the smaller then use it on my bigger machine too.
Is it possible to use an USB HSDPA modem using mint on this netbook?

The common way it to make a live usb flash or external hard drive (since I doubt you have a cd/dvd drive)

You can use the live usb to work on the modem before you have to install.

I prefer liveusbcreator from the fedora project since it seems to work the best and can make a persistent area.

As to that modem your mileage may vary. People have been known to get them to work; it depends somewhat on the brand and compatibility with modemmanager example
