BUMP, somebody MUST know of a way to install linux via a windows installer

i heard ubuntu can install to a windows file (an actual file that sits in c:\) and when you boot the windows booter would look up this file and run it...
i think it mite have trouble reading ext3 but it should run.

do you have an mp3 player, phone, camera, ... that can be mounted as a usb harddrive ?

Not what i wanted schneidz, THAT WAY is slow, I need it on a partition, that way if my windows gets killed I can use linux still, also schneidz what you are talking about is called wubi

^ yeah it doesn't sound ideal but given your situation mite be the only way.

uteck, wubi installs into an image on the NTFS Partition, My windows is sure to die soon, and my NTFS can't be in good shape, if windows died, I'd lose my linux, I need linux on a partition but I can't install it from a CD

If your computer allows you to boot from USB then I'd advice you to buy a new USB drive, they come at very low cost. Then once you have that you could install GParted on it, boot from USB, do the re-partitioning and install a Linux version from the USB drive (several distro's can be installed to a USB from unetbootin and have the possibility to install them later on your harddrive. I don't think you will get any solution that will allow you to install linux on a separate partition yet to be created from within Windows, without erasing Windows and without the possibility to boot from CD.

I just remembered, I tried to do that before, put linux on my flash drive and boot it, it didn't work on my computer, it an old hp pavillion, all the boot options didn't boot the drive

You can install plopmanager to HD, it will boot the flashdrive

I only have a 64mb flash drive and a 1gb one but that contains my stuff, and I don't think any distro will install other than damn small linux from a 64mb flash drive

Ok, I've just tried to boot into fedora from the live cd, this is the exact error i get:
end request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1409920
Buffer i/o error on device sr0 logical block 352480

And it repeats it several times before giving me the same error but with different sectors, then gives me the same sector errors again for about 30 errors before it boots

um, backup your stuff and/ or fedora live-usb installer installs non-destructiely (i.e.- it wont overwrite your data).
