install linux from hard-drive
i have just downloaded kubuntu 12.10..is there any way so that i can directly install it from my hard-drive without writing it in a dvd?

I think you need to burn it to CD or DVD or install it in a Flash Drive with the USB creator tool.
Good luck to you |
As far as i know u can install directly from hard disk but still you'll need startup disk to be run to get the prompt from where u can give option to install from hard disk. But still i recommend pen drive or cd/dvd for installation.

Download and install unitbootin for your computer then that will create a bootable usb flash drive for you. (Read their instructions a little bit)

Install if from your hard drive to what? Another harddrive? flash drive? Do you have another Linux distribution currently installed? You can boot and should be able to install to another drive with either Grub Legacy or Grub2. The methods differ so without more info, not much to be said.
