Install issues.

Howdy all. I'm trying to load CentOS4 on MS Virtual PC 2004. I hit Enter to install in graphical mode, and after uncompressing for a minute it hangs with

"Kernal panic - not syncing: kernel/ shed .c:2685: spin_lock(kernel/shed.c:c06045a0) already locked by kernel/shed.c /2685"

Now heres the kicker: I can do this on another box without issue.

Use the same Virtual PC 2004 configuration as on the other system then. Or try installing in text mode, when the menu screen is displayed type; linux text

ENOINFO: Not enough information

Hi Chris.

I don't know about other people who answer questions in this forum but when I address a problem I often do A LOT of research. I just answered a question where I spent the last 90 minutes looking for information to help flesh out the details of the answer that I provided and to ensure that I got the syntax of instructions correct.

Given that, I have no idea what MS Virtual PC 2004 is but I would be willing to look for information to help you if you provided more information about your problem. Is MS Virtual Machine 2004 a stand alone virtual machine or is it a version of VMWare or part of the Xen virtual machine software, or what? Help us to help you. Please provide more information about your problem. Otherwise the number of people who know exactly what you are doing is going to be very small and you will have less likelyhood of having constructive assistance provided.

Also, what is the exact nature of the other box where this software is working? What is the difference between the box that works and the box that doesn't work?

All of us here are eager to help you.
