install from hard drive??

I have downloaded an iso image of some distro I'd like to try out. I burned the image onto a DVD, but it turned out that it was zipped beforehand so I have a zipped archive burned on DVD and therefore cannot install from DVD (or can I?).

Is it possible to do an installation from my hard drive where I unzipped the files (separate partition) or do I need to burn the unzipped contents to a DVD again? Whoever zips an iso in the first place I wonder?

You can unzip and loopmount the image and then try to use the packaging tool for that distribution to install to the spare harddisk. It will be uncomfortable and possibly not work, but it might be possible.

For the second question: Someone with limited bandwidth?
