you need to install development software. not sure how to go about it in rh8 but look in obvious "install software" area of rh

then try again. fluxbox is probably available from you cd's also.

oki

i now your problem u need to download a kernel source i hade the same problem kas my source from the cd gave me a magic number when i installed the os so go and get your self a new source for the kernel...

easy

okej command center- inlogg handler - session
switch to admin and just add fluxbox to your session

wolla and now u got fluxbox...

))

ps: sry about the name i use suse in swedish so i dont no the names in eng....

hmmmm...you untarred it to the / directory? I don't see the fluxbox directory though. I would go about it like this:

tar xzvf flux* -C tmp
cd /tmp/flux*
./configure
make
make install

are you logged in as root? don't do that.

already tryed thoses packages from this site . . .

didint work too . . .

i cant find the place or folder where the "./configure" script is . . .


k . . .

im just trying to get used to linux , already installed 4-5 distros . . .

working with them and playing with them , ll make me more expierenced . . .


now im stopped in the fluxbox installation . . .

let say you have a package called bob.tar.gz and it's in the /opt folder

cd /opt
ls
bob.tar.gz

tar -xzf bob.tar.gz
cd bob
./configure
make
su
[enter your root password]
make install

Your tgz.tar makes me think that you
might have grabbed a slackware package.
If this is the case you don't need any
of configure, make and make install,but
have it "ready to use" ;)

The directory structure confirms this.
You just should have been using installpkg
rather than tar :}

The tgz.tar extension is somewhat odd, though,
where'd you get the file?

where are they located ?

i mean , i wanna see all logs to track errors . . .

how to edit my X resolution in console mode ?

i already edited the X86Config file , (/etc/X11 . . )
and added the
1280 x 1024 resolution in the beggining of all modes linbes

8 bit
16 . . .

but it didnt changed at alll

is there a way to acess my linux partition in windows ?
because i wanna making the changes and looking the logs in windows . . . ?

you may want to consider using linux-mandrake until you get up to speed with linux.
