let say you have a package called bob.tar.gz and it's in the /opt folder
cd /opt ls bob.tar.gz tar -xzf bob.tar.gz cd bob ./configure make su [enter your root password] make install |

might have grabbed a slackware package. If this is the case you don't need any of configure, make and make install, but have it "ready to use" ;) The directory structure confirms this. You just should have been using installpkg rather than tar :} The tgz.tar extension is somewhat odd, though, where'd you get the file? Cheers, Tink |
thank you
:) another question . . . 1 - if i wanna see logs from my system where are they located ? i mean , i wanna see all logs to track errors . . . - 2 - how to edit my X resolution in console mode ? i already edited the X86Config file , (/etc/X11 . . ) and added the 1280 x 1024 resolution in the beggining of all modes linbes 8 bit 16 . . . but it didnt changed at alll 3 - is there a way to acess my linux partition in windows ? because i wanna making the changes and looking the logs in windows . . . ? thank youuuu |
you may want to consider using linux-mandrake until you get up to speed with linux.
