I try to download and install flash player but it always says failed

We need to know which distribution and what type of machine.
when i do this 'type "sudo apt-get install flashplayer-mozilla" without the quotes. If you get an error please post the error here
it says sudo user password what ever that means?
ok the computer guy put linux on my computer i dont know anything about a password or user name ........but i went to the root menu and changed it supposedly but when i type the password i created it says incorrect
