install downloaded program

Downloaded firefox for Linux (Mandrake 9.2)
Could someone give me some step by step instructions as to how to install it.
I do not even know where it is on the drive.
Have never used Linux so detailed info would be appreciated.

Thanks S.P.

my download of firefox automatically went to /home/miner
i right clicked it and selected extract to sub-folder

then i went to my desktop, right-clicked and chose 'new launcher'
i browsed to firefox, which is /home/miner/firefox-0/firefox/firefox

It tells me that the file got downloaded to /home/boss/documents
But I cannot get to it.
I enter CD /home/boss/documents and it tells me that there is no such directory.
Then I got as far as the boss directory (CD /home/boss) Now I am stuck.

I didnt have to do any of that junk. I just opened the file I think it was .tar.gz an d found the ".exe" file and added it to start menu. Never had to install anything. Using KDE 3.1 and SuSE 9.0.

Try /home/boss/Documents ... that's with a CAPITAL D.
