install compat-libstdc++ on RHEL4

What do I need to do to install the compat-libstdc++ on Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 4.0? Obvisouly, up2date does not work on RHEL4.
The reason to install this package is because is
contained in this package and I need to run some
applications. (BTW, is the compat-libstdc++ package part of the
redhat linux distro?) Many thanks.
