install command purpose
I have gone through a lot of documentation about the install command but just can't find an exact explanation about the purpose of this command. All I hear is that it allows to control the attributes of destination files. But I seriously can't make any sense of that phrase. The most confusing is the 4th form of this install command. I wish if someone can give me some example based small tutorial on this cryptic command. Especially the 4th form of this command: install [OPTIONS] -d DIRECTORY...

Hi DragonM15,

I did have a look at that page that you provided me. Thanks. But the real problem is that I'm unable to find a page on the internet that contains an example to demonstrate how this command actually works. Like a few shell commands involving install and what changes these commands cause to a set of files.

All that I could find are man pages one different than the other only by words but none of them containing examples.
