install canon 1p 2200 printer

my canon ip pixma 2200 printer is not printing. the computer says its ready and if i hit test page it says its sending info to printer but nothing happens what am i missing on the downloads?? installed the canon download for linex and it includes cups im going crazy, completely out of ideas (also quite new to the computer game so be gentle with the answer please)

Hello and welcome to LQ

How is the printer physically connected to the computer? You mention cups, if cups is installed and running correctly you should be able to open up a web page:
http://localhost:631

And view your printer. From there there may be some information telling what the problem is. If there is no printer, then you will need to add one. Follow the guided steps in the cups web interface to add your printer. Once it's added, try printing a test page.
