install can't find installed rpms

Hi,
I am using fedora core 2. I have installed and running MySQL and PostgreSQL during installation itself.
But now when i run the ./configure script of popular BZIPs like Gambas or gtk-perl, It says that it can't find MySQL or postgreSQL. Both of which are installed by rpms. Now is there a way to install from the BZIPs or do i have to hunt for rpms for all software ????
