Packages installed with 'Ubuntu software center' or 'Synaptic'
are saved in /var/cache/apt/archives/ .

The packages can be copied to "usb key" or cdrom, and installed
to another Ubuntu 10.10 with :
EDIT : This is a typo : sudo apt-get install <package> <package>

Must be 'sudo dpkg -i <package> <package> <package> <package>'

..

AFAIK, apt-get will not install packages that are on your local machines, it will always look at the repositories. I think the correct command would be
Code:
sudo dpkg -i <package> <package> <package> <package> <package>
