Install AMD driver updates for new graphics cards on system usiing Xubuntu
 

I have a new problem: Beginning to set up my second LTC mining rig, installed Xubuntu 12.10 with xubuntu upgrades for 12.10 only, not 13.04. When I tried to install amd drivers with:
Sudo apt-get install fglrx-updates fglrx-amdcccle-updates fglrx-updates-dev
The process began then toward the end it gave this error message:

Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx-amdcccle-dates_2%3a9.000_Oubuntu3_amd64_deb
E: sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned error code (1)

Anyone had this experience and find a solution???

The best way to set the proper driver for your video card is through the Additional Drivers option in the Settings section of the main menu Menu>Settings>Additional Drivers, or right click with mouse in the desktop then Applications>Settings>Additional Drivers, that will select and install it in the proper way.

I do not see a listing for Additional Drivers in Menu>Settings or Applications>Settings either.

I'm not familiar with 12.10, but in some later (13.xx) versions the driver choice is in Software & Updates, the farthest tab to the right.

OK, I found it in Software updates as you said. I also went to AMD site and downloaded the latest drivers for my cards. I extracted the files to my Download folder. First I will try the Addition Drivers option first but if that does not work, do you know how I should install the drivers from the package file I downloaded? Thanks.

Solved- AMD Driver Installation
 

I actually did both of the above. I used the Software Updates to install Additional Drivers and I also extracted the driver file I downloaded from AMD, copied the file, and pasted it into a terminal session. Everything is working alright so I guess one of those solutions worked as my cards were displayed when I entered the scripts for mining, etc. It is now running. Thanks for the help.
