No. You can have as many versions of ns-allinone-2.xx as you want,
installed at the same time. But do not add any path text to .bashrc .

The executable 'ns' is hard coded the know the location of it's libraries.

Smile ns executable file

Hi ! Thanks for the reply. Regarding the 'ns' hard code ( not sure what it is), I found out that my 'ns' executable file in directory \ns-allinone-2.35\bin, the type is stated as 'link' but broken link. Can this be the source of my problem posted before. Then, how can I create a new one? Shall I remove the existing broken link ns file and create new one but how? Thank you.

# 17 .

Most executable will look in LD_LIBRARY_PATH for libraries.
'ns' will automatically also use : <build-location>/ns-allinone-2.xx/lib/.
And for TCLSH : <build-location>/ns-allinone-2.xx/bin/tclsh8.x .
Examples :
/home/<name>/ns2/ns-allinone-2.34/lib/,
/home/<name>/b/ns-allinone-2.29/lib/.
When my ns from ns-2.29_fastbroadcast is opened in the kwrite editor:
Line 21785: TCLSH "/home/knudfl/9tmp/ns-allinone-2.29/bin/tclsh8.4"

Post #15 : This is the ns-2.29 ns : ./ns broadcast.tcl :

SORTING LISTS ...DONE!
Result : 2 files are created : range.tr 795kB, trace.tr 40MB.

Your failed result could be because of the wrong ns version, ns-2.35 .
