I am very green in linux for this I have decided to run ubuntu 14:04 LTS on my laptop to encourage me in learning more on Linux.
I recently upgrade and got problem now when the system boot to black screen and gives the subject above "initramfs. Please can anyone help me solve this problem.
Give up waiting for root device. common problems:
-Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
-check rootdelay = (did the system wait long enough?)
-check root = (did the system wait for the right device?)
-Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)

Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
In short, it means it cannot find your root partition/drive. It could help if you posted some more specific info.
Is it dual boot
Is grub on the same drive as root partition
How exactly is your partitions scattered over drives
It seams either your root partition is missing or corrupted or drive failed.
I have very limited knowledge on init ramfs but giving as much info possible can help someone help you.
