INIT stops at remount of root in read-write mode
I am having a problem getting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 4 AS to boot. When INIT gets to the point where it does "mount -n -o remount,rw /", it hangs. I have checked for errors with fsck, and there are none. I have a primary ext2 /boot partition at the beginning of the hard disk, and a logical ext2 root partition. I am dual booting with Windows XP Pro. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
EDIT: OK, I solved the problem, but I don't really know why. I got rid of the primary ext2 partition and just put the whole system, including /boot, onto the logical ext2 partition. After that, no more hang. Anybody know what's going on here? |
