Increasing Windows partition size
Have a 120 gig hard drive. Windows XP is installed. I installed Suse 10.1 and let it have it's way. Linux created a Windows partition of 40 gig. I'd like to increase the windows partition. How can I do this?

Don't feel so bad about it. Winbloze usually eats the whole drive :p
You can use a live CD like Kanotix which comes with qtparted. You can use a gparted live CD. Or if you are macho-man you can use parted command line. All these tools invoke ntfsresize to resize NTFS partitions. Realize you are taking a risk even though these tools usually work fine. If you make a mistake or if something goes wrong, it's bye-bye everything on the disk. Make backups and go slowly with your work. Run fdisk -l before you start and make a copy of the output in case you have to reconstruct your partition table. |
