In what year did the KDE project began a user-friendly desktop environment?


With the aim of creating consistence, user-friendly desktop environment for the free UNIX-like operating system began in what year for the KDE project.

Hellow,
I used a linux machine with KDE first in 2002, i never researched it, but i think it was developed during 1998. But dont take my word for it.

KDE is older than that. They were the first to come up with the idea of a unified desktop environment
Dude: wikipedia. If this is homework, a form's not a reliable source, and the wikis a lot faster.
