ive got an

Asus with VIA motherboard with intergrated audio:

Via AC"97 dwm

ive apparently havethe latest drivers for my chip ... from asus website ...
but my sound still manages t be quite ugly ... actually not worth listening to music :(
help anyone ... ?

btw ... id like to keep my dual boot ... but xp takes up so much space ... (1.4 gb) ... ive prefered
overall win 98se ... recommendations? ... i wanna keep it small with game compatability

which sound drivers are you using? i think the ALSA drivers provide best performance with ac97 chips.

well im using asuses laests drivers ... ?
the weird thing is ... i can play videos with sound , no problemo ... RIFF audio , no problemo ... mp3z sound like crap tho ...

i think ill just have to get a decent soundcard . itll be simpler ... and faster ... anyway ... im confused ...
