important - about installing programs

a lot of you guys seems to have problem with dependancies, I just want to bring to your attention a WONDERFUL program that you can find on rpmfind.net which is : apt

for example, if you want to install mplayer, just type (root) :
apt-get update (to update the package list if you think it is needed)
apt-get install mplayer

and it will download mplayer and each and every libraries needed and will install everything for you

you can also type
apt-get upgrade
and it will check if there is a new version available for every package installed on your computer and upgrade them if needed

you can also write a little "find" script'

this program is what makes me stay on linux it really worth a try because it is easy to install and will simplify your linux life so much

I would be glad to help if you have any problem installing it or if you want the "find" script

SuSE can if you install apt for SuSE. Apt is useful for grabing package without manually seaching packages and its dependencies.

Automatic online package patching/update also available by using fou4s.

Those two package = must have for this distro.

Although YAST can do package resolving and YOU can online update automatically too ;-)
