image of hard disk !

Hi all.

I have performed standard installation of centos 5.5 (text mode). I didnt modify the partition layout so i just have 3 partitions

1) /boot 100 MB
2) / 5000 MB (Volume manager 00)
3) Swap 2000 MB

(above values are given roughly and not exact copy paste of df or fstab)

i had a hard disk of 8 GB. Now lets say, i take the image of '/' using dd utility. I simply change the hard disk to 40 GB, perform the same partitioning, this time my '/' partition is of lets say 30 GB. Can i repaste the image ?

My concern is, i have taken the image from a 5 GB partition and want to paste it on a 30 GB partition. Will it work ?

Smile Your HDD image

I don't know for sure, but I don't believe that a 5 GB image will work with a 30 GB HDD.

Good luck!!
