iMac Not booting PLEASE HELP
*333Mhz iMac w/ 192 RAM
*Ubuntu 5.10 *Kernel 2.6.12-10-powerpc *yaboot 1.3.13 After updateing and restarting it when through the normal boot faze.... Ubuntu bootstage > Yaboot > Then it when to Apple's Firmware and is stoped there... normally it flashes Apple's Firmware for a slight second then goes to the Ubuntu Booting Also: It won't boot ANY CD I've tryied Ubuntu(5.10 and 6.04), Yellow Dog, Disk Warrior(PPC computer Disk utility), and Gentoo ...could the cd drive be dead/dying... i've burned install cds for Ubuntu, Yellow Dog Linux, and Gentoo and none of those are booting... the drive spins the disk but doesn't do anything b/s that when i startup holding "c" Thanks In advance Suggestions I've gotten... Reset the pram.....Still Tacks me to firmware screen |
First of all, don't assume that the cd is dead. Get a cleaning CD and clean it. Oh, and just a personal question. Is this the third generation iMac? What MacOS did you run on it? Sorry for this flash, but I'm getting myself an iMac 3G and wanted to know...

i don't mind the question... It was the very first iMac.. . it came with Mac OS 8.5
