Smile im new to linux looking for any help or guidance


If your good linux user and can help me with basic questions email me . Im running liunx mandriva enterprise server and mandriva one in vmware to start learning .I cant for the life of me figure out on the enterprise 5.2 how to make a better user interface to make it easy for me to begin it. Loaded icewm from install . On the mandriva one program trying to get samba to work got the windows pc to see it but didnt have rights to the folders .Any help will be good if one of you experts have time to chat

On LQ, it's preferred to ask and answer questions on the forums, so that other visitors can benefit from the answers.

You questions are kind of wide-ranging and could stand to be a little more detailed and specific. Here are some hints about how to ask good questions.

As regards Samba, Samba by Example (PDF) is my favorite reference.

At first guess, I'd expect that your Windows accounts don't have rights on the Linux box or passwords in /etc/samba/smbpasswd.
