im confused


are the .deb files like rpm's just for debian? and how can i install them on knoppix?

.deb files are basically Debian's idea of .rpms

If you already have the .deb file you want to install, I'd suggest using KPackage to install the .deb file.

If you don't yet have the .deb files I'd suggest opening a shell and entering 'apt-get install <package name>'.

aptitude is a really great utility for installation of deb packages... If you've got KDE you can use Kpackage.
