ifconfig & iwconfig do not work

I just installed fedora on my toshiba satellite tablet pc (and there is still windows on there) and neither ifconfig nor iwconfig will work as commands in the bash shell as root. My wireless card (intelpro wireless 2200) doesn't work with fedora either. I'm new to fedora and don't know if there are any other commands like ifconfig and iwconfig that I can use. Anyone know what I should do?!

Greetings. Do us a really quick favour and enter the following commands and post the results:

Code:
echo $PATH
(remember to match the case exactly)

Also, not quite sure if FC has this command, but it's one I use quite often.

Run the following command:
Code:
slocate -u
then run:

Code:
slocate ifconfig
to see if ifconfig even exists on your system. That'll start pointing you (and us) in the right directon.

Code:
[root@localhost aki]# ifconfig -a
bash: ifconfig: command not found

(i was also never able to create hostname when i installed fedora, and tried changing it with hostname -F and a text file, but that didn't work either, so that's why its still localhost....I'm really new to fedora...as you can tell...)

Code:
[root@localhost aki]# ifconfig
bash: ifconfig: command not found
[root@localhost aki]# echo $PATH
/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/aki/bin
[root@localhost aki]# slocate -u
[root@localhost aki]# slocate ifconfig
/var/cache/man/cat8/ifconfig.8.bz2
/usr/share/zsh/4.2.1/functions/_ifconfig
/usr/share/man/fr/man8/ifconfig.8.gz
/usr/share/man/man8/ifconfig.8.gz
/usr/share/man/pt/man8/ifconfig.8.gz
/usr/share/man/de/man8/ifconfig.8.gz
/sbin/ifconfig
[root@localhost aki]#
ohok thanks for the help! i set the path up and it works now....
