id: cannot find name for user ID 500

I got this error message while logging in one day with the user account 'fusion', "id: cannot find name for user ID 500"

here is a listing from /etc/passwd:

/etc/shadow how similar results, luckily i'm not posting that.

Any ideas?

Check the permissions on /etc/passwd and /etc/group. They both should be world
