I want to believe

I am a complete beginner. I grew up using Windows but I have recently been introduced to Linux by a friend. I support the overall philosophy and I am very impressed with it's usability.
I would like to convert to Linux completely. I am trying to buy a new laptop for myself and was wondering if I could get it with something like Debian pre-installed? I imagine this would be cheaper also but I can not seem to find an online store that sells anything like this.
I know I could buy one with Windows installed and then change it after but this seems like an unnecessary expense to me.

Can someone please advise me how to buy a laptop with Linux, or at least with no OS installed by default?

Thank you

Probably your best bet for linux pre-installed on a laptop is to purchase one from Dell or HP. Tier one vendors began slowly introducing linux OS options over a year ago. HP and Dell both offer models with Ubuntu installed, which is debian based.

Another option is EmperorLinux or System76.

But I would consider that the larger proportion of laptop users that have linux installed - downloaded and installed the distro of their choice onto a laptop that originally had Windows installed. Installing Linux is usually much easier than installing Windows and takes much less time. An attractive option for new users is to dual-boot Windows/Linux and will give you a egress option for those times in case the frustration factor sets in...

One question, is there a reason why you would like debian installed?

why debian?

thank you for your help.

i am in the uk so I will try to find somewhere closer to buy from.

no real reason why i would choose Debian, other than that was the distribution that my friend introduced me too.

thanks again

Welcome!
I'm not from UK but quick search with Mr.Google gave me these two links:1,2.

P.S.
Just believe!

I have been to both Currys and Comet and they both sell netbooks with Linux preloaded - Ubuntu or Suse. The netbooks are available for around £200 and are a good point to start with.
