i want to a copy a file from root to a floppy on the console using slackware 10.0

there's this text file that i need to transfer to a floppy because its the ONLY way i can get it out. its on the root directory, on the desktop.

i know that for mounting its
mount /mnt/floppy

but how do i copy a file to a floppy? i've tried it using X but im getting some permission errors... its weird, cause im logging in as root.

please help.
