I use the iso i downloaded

I've recently downloaded iso's from the Ubuntu website and the suse website onto my laptop (Xp). I haven't had the need to use my cd burner before now and i dont know much about iso's other than the fact they are cd images. I cant seem to get either of the above to work. i have used a program called iso commander to unzip all the files, the boot image appears but not in the same tree. i have copied all these files to a folder and them burnt them to disk, but my computer will not boot from it. (i have the right boot setting). i have tried winrar to unpack it aswell and tried to use cdrwin to create the disc but it says i need a cue sheet, which i cannot find.
i have also used a simple iso program that says 'simply right click and select "burn cd image". this comes up with an error saying it cannot complete or close the process. (i am using Cd-rw)

can anybody help me out here? i want to get away from windows!!

The iso is an image of the cd, not just the files you unzipped. I highly recommend a program called cdburnerxp, it is free, and very good. it will allow you to open the iso and burn it to disk.

www.cdburnerxp.se

Make sure it is a cdimage and not a dvd image

or you could try a different disk i guess

I had the same problem. I had no idea what an iso is.

In nero under advanced properties you should see an option for burning iso images. you don't have to unzip them

I infer that you are going to burn a CD from the iso file using Windows. There are a zillion Windows CD-Burners, any one of which will burn from an iso.

Don't use any program with "iso" in the name--just use your CD burning SW.

Here, try this ISO Recorder which is a power toy for windows xp.

not use burning software with iso in name?

Is there a reason not to use ISO Recorder by Alex Feinman?
