I think im past the hard bit - what now? ADSL and Mandrake.

Hello,
after getting a right telling off for not trying hard enough by someone (cant remmbr who, but it were on this forum) i did so!

i managed to find the drivers for the US Robotics ADSL 9000 at:

http://fast800.tuxfamily.org/pub/art...?id_article=16

BUT the only problem is that it is all in french (the instructions, that is!)

Well, now i can do a PING from the console and it does this successfully - but i still cant use mozilla or anything else like that to actually SURF the net - how come?
what else do i need?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

OMG

I love seeing Linux command line instructions for installing drivers on hardware websites.

Maybe someday they will all have them.

jailbait dude, i tried those drivers first - they are old and dont do the trick on mandrake 9.1 (at least, thats what i found out when it started giving me sooo many errors!).

does anyone know how i am supposed to set 'startadsl' to run at startup - now i normally have to logon, then do a root console, then type startadsl - is there not a way of doing it at startup, and also a way of running stopadsl at shutdown?

You can ping a computer on the internet from the console?
Using the domain name (www.yahoo.com) or IP (66.218.71.89)?

Me too, especially when I randomly search their site assuming there is no linux support, then see an xterm or something, that is awesome!

Cool
