I recently installed Ubuntu, but I'm having problems

i have recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my computer but my screen keeps going black at random intervals and when i attempt to change my screen saver. Also, I cant change turn on any desktop effects on. please help me..

Try This
$ lspci -v | less
and look for your graphics
