I need help with ttylinux installation :(

Hey everyone sorry to bother you all and take up your time but I am trying to install ttylinux on my system and I have come across some trouble:

I understand ttylinux is fairly easy to install and everything but I have ran into one problem: I cant get the installer to read from the CD rom device:

basically I ran dmesg and according to its output my DVD-R/CDRW drive is located at device hde. When i entered this command:

cd /dev

ls -| more

and i looked over the output, I noticed that there is no device node hde even listed in the /dev folder

I also tried to mount the cdrom drive by running mount -t iso9660 /dev/hde /mnt/cdrom and it gave me the following error:
mount: mounting /dev/hde on /mnt/cdrom failed: No such file or directory

I tried with hda through hdd and it still gave me the same errors for each of those device nodes.

my PC only has 2 SATA drives and one IDE dvd-r/cdrw drive so the device node has to be one of the IDE nodes. Any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

have a look in /proc/ide
cat /proc/ide/drivers
says ther is a cdrom driver installed and
cat /proc/ide/ide2/hde/driver
says the same thing you may have faulty hardware or a faulty disk.

does /media/cdrom exist?

it stikes me as unusual that the cdrom is hde, it is usually hd[a-d] or sr[0-3]
