Welcome to LQ!
Backup what you care to keep and re-install using 16.04 LTS
There is no upgrade path, AFAIK.

And to add to what Habitual said, just saying "I am getting error", without actually telling us WHAT error you're getting, doesn't let anyone help you. You don't say what you're trying to do, what you're running when, and what it says. Read the "Question Guidelines" and "How to ask a smart question" links in my posting signature.

Doing a fresh load of the latest version is far better than an in-place upgrade, no matter what distro of Linux you're using.

Hello and welcome to LQ.

I never like doing distro upgrades but I think it is possible since maybe 12??
You will have to decide the risk of upgrade if possible. Some programs may not work well in 16 so you'll have to decide.
I prefer a clean install.

So, you can try to upgrade. Or if you already tried that and you are having a problem then tell us that.
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2016/04/h...0-to-16-04-lts is an example.
