It's not of extreme importance, but Fedora drop the 'Core' part with the end of Fedora Core 6. It's now known as Fedora X. They're now releasing distro's every 6 months with the most recent one being Fedora 8 Werewolf. The next one is due out in April of '08.
As for books, try your local Barnes and Noble. In my recent trip there, I haven't seen one for Fedora 8, only 7. You may want to pick it up as Fedora doesn't go against the grain from distro-to-distro. I also can't imagine that picking up a generic book on Linux would hurt you either. I also haven't seen any server books for Fedora. Not saying that they don't exist, I've never looked for them.
