Question I need 'su' access in OpenOffice to open NTFS files

Distrobution: Mandrakelinux 10.1 Community

I need to root access to be able to navigate up to get to the /mnt directory. I get a permission denied msg--so, how do I login as 'su' in Gnome (or KDE or any graphical environment)???

Thanks!
