I must be absolutely the dumbest person on the earth
Or so i thought until i saw other people having the same problem. I have been playing around with different linux/unix builds to determine what the best one for a file server was. After playing around with Ubuntu Server, i want to try FreeNAS (per recommendations). Only i can't seem to get the darn thing to burn. I downloaded the latest Embedded 0.686.4 .img file and cannot get it to burn using my windows box. So then i decided to try the live cd and everytime i start a pc on it - it kicks fails (but i cannot read the screen fast enough). I saw http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...fm/934999.html, so i'm not the only one with this problem. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the img file to burn? I would like to install FreeNAS on a server rather than run it from a live cd.

Use Nero or GnomeBaker, K3B

I believe you maybe after the DD command in linux. However when it comes to CD files I would have thought an ISO would have been a better way. makes me wonder if you actually have a CD image their.

Freenas help
freeNAS downloads come in two flavors: LiveCD and embedded the LiveCD is and ISO image and the embedded are .img files. If you have never installed freeNAS before you must start with the LiveCD; after that you can UPGRADE your existing running freeNAS using the .img files via a procedure outlined in the freeNAS documentation. Hope this helps. PS freeNAS is a great little system ... I use it for both backup purposes as well as a music server.
