RUTE is an online book that aims to introduce people to Linux. I've never actually read it :) but I've heard great things from people about it.

FWIW I have been reading Rute and will echo teval's comments. It's a very good resource for Linux and I'd recommend it. More importantly, Congrats jillyt on the successful installation and welcome to LQ and the amazing world of Linux. For some good intros to the CLI, check out:

Jillyt, I'm a newbie also. Before I installed linux I bought a book called "The Practical Guide to Linux" by Mark G. Sobell. From ch. 1 through the end it provides follow along lessons for a whole bunch of commands. Plus the last third of the book gives a description of all the commands plus the various options for each command (the man(ual) pages I presume). I've really enjoyed it and it's taught me a lot---I installed linux 11 days ago... I got the book at B & N.

I just bought another book today called "Moving to Linux: Kiss the Blue Screen of Death Goodbye!" by Marcel Gagne. It goes into a lot of detail about KDE. I'm really enjoying it and have practiced along with the chapters---there were a lot of things in KDE I was totally unaware of. It's cool.
