which distro you are using?

If its Fedora/RedHat try the following,

Boot using first CD enter
Code:

linux rescue
in the starting screen answer the question (defaults ok) it will take you to a rescue prompt, there enter the following
Code:

# chroot /mnt/sysimage
# grub-install /dev/hda1

/dev/hda1 is just for an example replace it with your real linux boot partition.

Unless you overwrote your Linux partition, you simply need to reinstall your boot loader to the MBR using your Linux install disk.

and if you did destroy Linux then you will find it a lot easier to install xp first then linux.

Yes, In order to make things much simpler, if you have to do it, of course

always install Windows first.

Actually, with Windows and any other OS, I have always found it easier to put Windows XP on first, then the other OS. But, eh, anyway.

Which reminds me, am I the only one here running a clone of Red Hat Linux on a Sun Microsystems Machine? Besides running CentOS 4.0 Final in a dual boot setup with my WinXP Pro, I have a dedicated Linux box running on a Sun Ultra 5 machine running Aurora Linux 1.0 which is Red Hat 7.3/Sparc based and was wondering if anyone else was running anything similar?
