I lose resolution choice

Why do I lose my choice of resolution when I go from 6.06 to 9.10?
I am stuck at 800by 600.

You most likely need to reinstall graphices drivers BUT and this is a big one. The versions of Ubuntu you had and then the one you installed are way, way out of date. The current LTS release is 21.04 and the current release is 13.04. I would recommend you look into installing a newer version. You will not be able to install software or get updates from Ubuntu at all for 9.10

Also, there have been some very big changes in Ubuntu since the versions you have, so, it may be worth you heading to their site and checking it out first.

Both are way too outdated.
Use at least 12.04.
