Yo,
My name is Godzooky, and I have always loved playing the guitar and creating music, I just haven't gotten to recording anything. I wanted to start by making classic rap beats and see how that goes, and build from there. I just downloaded Linux and my question is, how do I use it? I don't think I have any music to use on it, so any way to direct me to sample music or a guide to how to put my music in files onto it. Any help with how to start with creating beats would be great too.
Much love,
Godzooky

Welcome to LQ godzooky!

Audacity is a commonly used audio editor that works on linux as on other platforms. You can record and edit audio files. There are other tools of course. If we knew your distribution we could tell you more detailed how to install it.

Short answer: You have to install Linux, and then install a sound editor (and other sound-related SW/accessories).

Linux is an operating system and--by itself--will not do sound/music editing.

The normal routine for installing Linux:
  • download a CD image (AKA "iso file").
  • Use this image to create a bootable CD.
  • Boot the computer from the CD and follow instructions.

Maybe I got you wrong, godzooky. Do you have a windows installation, linux or other operating system? If you just want to make music you don't have to install a different operating system.
