I killed X, oops

Well, I decided to try something fun today, try to fix all my problems by using the Install program for RedHAt 7.2 to upgrade some of the packages that had been giving me problems (most likely because they were installed wrong) Anyways, I ended up maybe clicking on a few extra things and now when I type startx it pretty much tells me I messed it up.

Anyways, I was hoping there was a way to fix this...easily...like just reinstall the driver for my Video card, but the problem is it just tells me it already installed. So where should I start?

In 3 days I loose my internet connection on this computer (I'll still have access on another computer) and I also loose my highspeed access altogether, so this is great timing

Thanks

Too late...after I moved back home after my last exam I got a little too eager to fool around in linux again and reinstalled...now I have bigger problems...I have no high speed internet connection (let alone any internet connections on my computer at the moment) and I killed Linux, not just X!!!

If you know how to fix my linux please help. Pretty much when it starts doing the startup tests and starting up the kernel, at one point it tells me there are errors and that linux cannot start. It also tells me some of the files maybe in /mnt/systemimage or something like that and that I can enter the root password.

I must have restarted the thing wrong...it freezes sometimes.

Anyways, check the Newbie board in the next couple days as I will write a detailed message...I don't want to loose all my files!!!
